Jacob Marty is a sixth generation family farmer from Monticello, WI. Farming with his father, Jim, he has began the transition of the farm from a conventional dairy and crop operation to a regenerative farm focused on raising beef cattle, hogs, sheep, and some poultry on pasture. Meat raised on the farm is direct marketed through their brand Green Fire Farm. The farm is over 400 acres, and offers a special set of opportunities and challenges to transition to more sustainable practices. In this talk, Jacob will go over these ups and downs, as well as talk about the role of broadscale agriculture in sustainable communities.
Come join us for a potluck and then a chance to hear about Jacob’s experience!!! Should be fun!
