We are taking registrations for the upcoming July Natural Building Cob Oven Workshop out at the Farley Center in July
Jarad Barkeim will be teaching it and here’s his bio:
As a child, Jarad Barkeim spent countless hours outside hiking, fishing, hunting, camping, and building forts in the Coulee Region. To this day, Jarad continues to spend much of his time outside and is passionate about the land and the community of people that derive their sustenance from this land. Jarad has a BS from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Education Department, is a certified Permaculture* designer, and will soon be a certified Iyengar Yoga instructor. He has extensive experience working on conservation projects and building hiking trails with the US Forest Service and Conservation Corps programs in the western US. For the past three years, he has taught, organized, participated in, and facilitated a number of Natural Building and Permaculture workshops in the area. With his unique set of skills and abilities, Jarad hopes to help regenerate the health and resiliency of the land and the community of people in the Coulee Region.
We will be building a cob oven on the Farley Center property using materials, for the most part, from the site. We will have a short introduction on natural building and then dig in to the construction of the oven. We will be meeting outside all day both days so come prepared for that. We will be meeting from 9-5 both Saturday and Sunday. Please find attached a picture of the cob oven at Kinstone which Jarad led the build on.
